I am creating these “Yoga Extras” blog posts for those of you resonating with the public yoga classes & Yoga Teacher Trainings I am leading. Inside of these blog posts you will find extra resources that support our weekly class theme. The weekly classes I guide are themed according to the season & collective energetic “weather”–This is of course influenced by many things; for instance, not only national and global events but how masses of people are feeling about and reacting to those events. It is also influenced by space weather (see spaceweather.com) & the current movement/placement of celestial bodies ie: the sun, moon, planets, nodes, stars, etc. You can find me teaching currently at Black Swan Yoga (North-Anderson) in Austin, TX. I am on the schedule as “Erika K.” Mention this webpage for a free class.
Hello dear beings!
The astrological forecast for the second half of August is purported to be very, very intense. From my point in space in this world I can say that I am feeling this big time. More esoteric studies like astrology, lightwork and the quantum sciences can be complex and complicated to understand, even at a basic level. Since my professional studies are in the quantum sciences, I can most comfortably and confidently speak to that. Everything is energy. This is finally becoming understood by much of the collective. One of the ways energy behaves is in waves. Waves of varying frequency. Some waves are shallow and slow-moving. Others have depth and speed. Anything that moves at the speed of light and below, is understood by older, established (Newtonian) science/physics to operate by a certain set of rules. Anything that vibrates faster than the speed of light runs by an entirely different set of rules! This means that everything of which we are even aware in the universe/multi-verse is quantum in nature, following incredibly interesting rules. Rules that are mystical in nature. Not rational. We too, you and I, are quantum in nature. It bears repeating: the larger reality, according to the grandmother science of Quantum Physics is not rational, but instead mystical (ie; transcending human understanding). Even the smartest Quantum Physicist alive will not pretend to understand the field. What these folks do tend to agree about it this: all things are possible. All. things. are. possible.
Read that again, and let it sink in. And apply it to any aspect of your life.
A question I have heard often: How do I grow along this mystical/spiritual path? Can I speed up the process? If I cannot sell you on regular meditation, a now evidence-based panacea (basically, a cure all) perhaps you will take me up on what some call “active learning.” Instead of just reading or passively taking information in, actively searching yourself with questions. Some of the best (and most memorable) decisions I’ve made came from an answer I spontaneously gave when asked a question. Questions based on the reading below….
Yours in the quantum…

This is your reminder that
200-ish years ago some random dude
came along and made up some rules for life & was like, “hey, we should just work non-stop for 30-40 years
and then we can retire & life will be good.” And he told all his friends and they were like, “yeah, sounds good, let’s do life that way.” And they made some companies and here we are 200-ish years later following these rules like they just make sense, completely burnt out as a society!
(*pause for breath)
Take a deep breath. Life is a game.
The rules are all just made up.
We’re flying through space on a rock.
Consider making your own rules.
You’re doing great.
Below are active-learning questions based on the reading above to help sprinkle some fertilizer on our inner growth!
-
- Do you believe that the traditional life path of working for 30-40 years before retiring is outdated? Why or why not?
-
- How do societal norms and expectations shape our perception of success and happiness? Do you think these norms need to be challenged?
-
- What might life look like if people prioritized their well-being and passions over societal expectations of work and productivity?
-
- In what ways have you felt pressured to conform to the “rules” of life that others have created? How might you start creating your own rules?
-
- The passage suggests that “life is a game” with made-up rules. How might this perspective change the way you approach your daily life and long-term goals?
-
- What are some unconventional life choices you’ve considered but haven’t pursued because they don’t align with societal expectations? What might it take for you to follow through on them?
-
- If you could design a new societal structure where work-life balance is truly prioritized, what would it look like? How would it differ from the current model?
-
- How does the idea of “flying through space on a rock” influence your view on the importance of the traditional work-life trajectory?
-
- What are some personal “rules” or guidelines you currently live by that you might want to re-evaluate or change?
-
- How can we, as a society, begin to shift away from the current work-centric model and towards a more fulfilling, balanced way of living?
