I am creating these "Yoga Extras" blog posts for those of you resonating with the public yoga classes & Yoga Teacher Trainings I am leading. Inside of these blog posts you will find extra resources that support our weekly class theme. The weekly classes I guide are themed according to the season & collective energetic "weather"–This is of course influenced by many things; for instance, not only national and global events but how masses of people are feeling about and reacting to those events. It is also influenced by space weather (seespaceweather.com) & the current movement/placement of celestial bodies ie: the sun, moon, planets, nodes, stars, etc. You can find me teaching currently atBlack Swan Yoga (North-Anderson) in Austin, TX. I am on the schedule as "Erika K." Mention this webpage for a free class.

Hi loves!

For all my fellow creatures of comfort out there, as I can often myself be, I am hoping this week's theme coupled with the energies of the recent new moon in leo AND 8/8/8 Lion's Gate portal, inspire us to step into the new that awaits us. And by the way, in no way do I understand the massive subject of astrology. I am such a novice in the field. But I do know that I am drawn to it, fascinated by it, and more importantly feel different openings inside of myself at various times. This past week I've experienced moments of strong incoming information (aka: aha moments and new ideas). I pay attention to such moments and these openings to help me stay in what feels to me like simply the forward moving flow of life/all creation. I certainly know what it feels like to be moving against that flow and I highly prefer to go WITH this current. So, I don't need to understand it all. I just need to stay tuned into myself in the moment. It also supports me too to learn a little at a time about these larger cosmic forces. Ah, let me not forget to mention what adds velocity to these moments of download: I do have a regular, often daily, meditation practice. Why that word scares people or turns them off, I do understand. I really do. For now, I'll just say this: for me, it's a hidden secret to life that I would not do without. Unexpected things began to happen for me when I opened to this years ago. Some things you may not even believe if I told you. I hope I piqued some gentle curiosity.

"Once you make a decision, the universe conspires with you to make it happen."

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would have come his way."

Below are IDEAS FOR COMMITTING TO NEW DECISIONS based on the above readings (with tips to remain accountable).

    n

  1. Commit to a Passion Project: If you’ve always wanted to write a book, set a clear goal of writing 500 words every day. Create a writing schedule and share your progress with a friend or online community for accountability. Use tools like Trello to track milestones, or set up a recurring weekly check-in with a mentor or coach.

  2. n

  3. Embrace Bold Career Moves: If you’re contemplating a career change, start by researching new fields and reaching out to professionals in those areas for informational interviews. Set a deadline to update your resume and LinkedIn profile, and schedule a job search plan. To stay accountable, join a job seekers’ group or hire a career coach who can keep you on track.

  4. n

  5. Dedicate Time to Personal Growth: Choose one area for self-improvement, such as learning a new language. Commit to practicing 30 minutes a day using apps like Duolingo. Join a study group or class to ensure you have regular check-ins and a community that encourages you to stay consistent.

  6. n

  7. Pursue Meaningful Relationships: Make a list of five people you want to reconnect with or deepen your relationship with. Schedule regular coffee dates or video calls, and use a calendar app to set reminders. You could also start a monthly gathering, like a book club or dinner group, to maintain consistent interaction.

  8. n

  9. Adopt a Healthy Lifestyle: Start with one specific change, like exercising three times a week. Set realistic goals, like a 30-minute workout, and track your progress with an app like MyFitnessPal. Partner with a friend who shares similar health goals and check in with each other weekly. You can also use social media to post your progress, creating a public commitment.

  10. n

  11. Start a Creative Endeavor: If you’re interested in photography, commit to taking one photo every day. Share your work on social media or join an online challenge to keep yourself motivated. Set a goal to participate in a local art show or create a portfolio within six months, and ask a peer to review your work regularly.

  12. n

  13. Volunteer for a Cause You Care About: Choose a specific organization and commit to volunteering once a month. Set up automatic reminders and invite a friend to join you, turning it into a regular social activity. Use platforms like VolunteerMatch to log your hours and reflect on the impact you’re making.

  14. n

  15. Simplify Your Life: Start with decluttering one area of your life, such as your wardrobe. Commit to removing one item of clothing for every new piece you buy. Use a minimalist challenge, like the 30-day minimalism game, to stay engaged. Share your progress on a blog or with an accountability partner who is also simplifying their life.

  16. n

  17. Take a Risk on a Dream: If traveling the world is your dream, start by booking your first destination within the next six months. Set up a savings plan using apps like Qapital to automate contributions to your travel fund. Share your plans with a close friend or family member who can encourage you to stick to your timeline.

  18. n

  19. Develop a Spiritual Practice: If meditation is your chosen practice, commit to a daily 10-minute session. Use a meditation app like Headspace or Calm to guide you and track your streaks. Join a local meditation group or an online community to share experiences and stay accountable. Consider starting a journal to reflect on your journey and progress.

These more specific actions, paired with accountability strategies, can help ensure you stay committed and see tangible results.
